Introduction

The Department of Public Safety is authorized by ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University to prevent, investigate, and report any violations of State or Federal Law and/or University regulations on campus.

ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University Department of Public Safety is a proprietary organization with a full time staff of 27. Officers conduct foot, vehicular, and bicycle patrols of the campus and resident areas 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Department places strong emphasis in providing the community with medically trained officers equipped to handle emergencies. Each shift currently consists of two state-certified Emergency Medical Technicians on duty 24 hours a day. All officers are instructed in basic life support with annual in-service training seminars as well as CPR recertification.

ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University Department of Public Safety continuously updates security and safety programs to the University's ever-changing needs. ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ has implemented a residence hall card access system, a whistle defense program, an emergency call box phone system, and a closed circuit television system. Community awareness of security related concerns are addressed through crime prevention seminars, security bulletins and use of the campus television network to mention a few.‌

Programs

The Department of Public Safety offers various crime prevention programs throughout the year. Many of these programs focus on awareness, prevention and risk reduction. These programs perform a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment while encouraging participation and interaction.

Walk on highly-traveled roadways and stay in well-lit areas.

Carry your keys in your hand to avoid fumbling with them.

Hide Personal Property

Keep personal property out of sight; avoid carrying purses whenever possible.

Carry Small Dollar Amounts

Carry as little cash as possible.

Don't Prop Doors

Do NOT prop outside doors.

Report Suspicious Activities/Crimes

Report all suspicious activities and crimes.

Socialize Responsibly

Don't leave drinks unattended or socialize with people you're not comfortable with.

Be careful sharing personal information on the world wide web.

Title IX

ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University has established policies and procedures to address discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment complaints by students and employees. Under Title IX, “sexual harassment” includes incidences of sexual misconduct.
